VTR1000 Firestorm

This is my friends Jimmy's bike which needs some TLC so I have it to work my magic on - both the engine and body needs love.

Body Work

Jimmy's Fireblades body work was beginning to look sad. The Sun had taken its toll on the red panels and the there were mysterious cracks appearing out of nowhere - well that's what Jimmy said!

It was time for action, so while Jimmy was away on holidays running around Australia having fun, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.

I would say it took about 2 weeks of effort to complete the task using an Acrylic Lacquer paint system (See the video for more details).

Parts Worked On:

  • Bodywork

A few months ago Jimmy kindly lent me his bike to go on a trip with the mates. While the VTR is a great bike I was thinking to myself "this bike feels rather flat, maybe its old, I have got fat or both". In a drag race with the latest GS1200 Adventure we were neck a neck up to crazy warp speeds. Latter on the ride a heard a disturbing clunk sound while cruising at a walking pace "huh, what’s that"…
