Lime Green KR-1 Wheels are on

The Lime Green wheels are finally back on the bike. What a difference! When this bike was rescued, the bearings were seized so badly that it needed three of us to carry it around. The motor assembly should be starting soon.

Finally the Polar White/Lime Green KR-1 has tyres (Dunlop Arrow Max). Hopefully the next post will be a rolling chassis.

KR-1 Bodywork complete

Finally, just before Christmas 2018 the Polar White/Lime Green KR-1 bodywork has been complete. This has been much more of a challenge than first expected and it would have been far easier and cheaper to find a fiberglass replica fairing and slap on the gold, black, green and white graphics with an airbrush.

KR-1 Chain Guard Part 550201296

New KR-1 Chain Guards (Parts 550201296) appear to have disappeared off of the face of the earth and nothing’s worse than trying to restore or maintain a bike and when you can’t find the parts you need.

These Chain Guards used to retail for about $40AUD and thinking about it that’s pretty reasonable considering the cost of the materials. High volume is certainly favourable in the manufacturing game.

It was a real struggle trying to find decals that perfectly matched the original Polar White/Lime Green colour scheme. The positive was having all of the green bodywork with a mudguard from the UK, fairing from Japan and side covers and seat from Australia.
