This bike is a bit of a side project but it’s starting to get really exciting. The poor thing had clearly spent a great deal of its life outdoors. The seat has been taken off and stripped right back. The sponge started to turn into powder and the metal seat base was rusting away.
After giving the seat base a good sandblasting out came the fiberglass to reinforce it all again. This was a first-time experience and lessons were learnt along the way. It’s a good idea to have all of the fiberglass matting cut first (preparation is key) This can be real messy business and easier to do if you have four hands. Also make sure you use a roller to get all of the bubbles out as you go.
The next step is to get the base painted, cut new foam and fit the new replica cover... login and click follow if you're interested to see where the project goes!
